Whether you’re physically participating in a sport or simply want to change it up day to day, each of these sporty watches offers a laid-back look alongside high levels of mechanical and technological innovation

IWC BIG PILOT’S WATCH PERPETUAL CALENDAR SPITFIRE IWC is one of the most notable brands in watches when it comes to aviation, and the Pilot’s Watch collection (including the Spitfire) is inspired by a watch worn by Royal Air Force pilots in 1948 . Using an in-house movement seen via the sapphire caseback, the perpetual calendar watch has a dual-hemisphere perpetual moon phase that displays the date, day, month and year, has small hacking seconds and a seven-day power reserve for long missions. The olive-green dial, bronze case and leather strap give the watch a rugged, military-esque feel, and each wearer will appreciate its ode to history. $28,200 in bronze, IWC in New York, +1 212 355 7271, iwc.com

CHOPARD MILLE MIGLIA CLASSIC CHRONOGRAPH ZAGATO 100TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION Italian car design firm Zagato has been a friend of Chopard since the 1970s, when the Mille Miglia races were revived. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Zagato (founded in 1919), Chopard has collaborated with the Italian brand to launch a limited- edition anniversary timepiece. The chronograph is an homage to the race that brought them together, complete with influences from Zagato’s Italian car design heritage, seen through the brand’s sporty Z motif on the lacquered red dial and a black leather band recalling Italian leather seats. $6,890 in stainless steel, Chopard in New York, +1 212 223 2304, chopard.com

OMEGA SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN TOKYO 2020 LIMITED EDITION Omega is the official timekeeper of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, so it’s only fitting the brand delivers a sporty watch honoring Japan. This limited-edition timepiece (there will be just 2,020 pieces) has a polished white-ceramic dial and bezel ring, and a stark-white strap with a special nod to the host country: The tip of the central seconds hand is fashioned with a red dot, like the country’s flag, and the number 20 on the bezel is filled with red liquid ceramic. It’s also certified master chronometer with a 55-hour power reserve. $7,450 in stainless steel, Omega in New York, +1 212 207 3333, omegawatches.com

ROLEX YACHT-MASTER 42 Traditionally designed for yachting, Rolex’s Yacht-Master line is ideal for water-based journeys.
