Elite Traveler HRS 2018-2019
Spot wildlife on the shores of the lake from the lodge’s swimming pool
RELAX In between game drives, take in Singita Pamushana’s far-reaching views from the cliff-top firepit and new suspended bar, which is dramatically set against a backdrop of boulders. For spa treatments, you can ask for a therapist to come to your suite, but it would be a shame to miss out on the views from the lodge’s intimate spa where treatments incorporate Terres d’Afrique products. DINE Food is a significant part of the experience at every Singita lodge. It trains chefs in Singita’s own culinary schools, features the freshest and best ingredients sourced from the surrounding regions and pours creativity into each fine-dining plate and afternoon-tea treat. Singita is also renowned for its wine program, stocking the cellar of each lodge with Africa’s most sought-after vintages and private reserves, which the sommelier will introduce you to during your gourmet meals. EXPLORE It may be the safari experience that brought you here — and it’s certainly worth the journey with Lichtenstein’s hartebeests, cheetahs, lions, leopards and rhinos to see — but this is just one side to Singita Pamushana. Seek out rock-art sites dating back thousands of years, set out on community visits and take a sunset cruise on the Malilangwe Dam. Back at the lodge, use one of the telescopes to spot wildlife on the shores of the lake below.
SINGITA PAMUSHANA LODGE CHIREDZI, ZIMBABWE
Relaunched in July following an extensive redesign, this safari lodge by Singita shines brighter than ever. The luxury hideaway sits high up on the hillside overlooking Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve where 38 habitats are said to have been identified within the reserve’s 130,000 acres of protected land. As well as extending the main lodge and enhancing the landscaped garden where walkways brush past baobab trees, designers Cecile & Boyd added two new suites to the intimate collection. They also redesigned the lodge’s interiors, taking inspiration from its extraordinary natural surroundings, the architecture of the former capital Great Zimbabwe and culture of the local Shangaan community. Fusing this distinct identity with Singita’s trademark opulence, the lodge continues to provide an unrivaled base for exploring the captivating wilderness.
