The celestial setting of Refectorio is utterly unique. Formerly the monks’ dining hall, the domed high ceilings and 17th century mural create a divine setting for the Michelin-starred dishes and superb wines from Abadia’s private collection.

RELAX Santuario

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the Romanesque structure was converted into a hotel in 2012 by Swiss-Italian architect Marco Serra, and the 12th-century abbey was meticulously restored to retain the historic details. It is a truly private hideaway — the estate spans a massive 1,730 acres, over 500 of which are vineyards. The wine created is outstanding and the wine-making extends to the spa treatments. The master suite maintains the Romanesque architecture in harmony with modern amenities and luxury furnishings. EXPLORE A tour of the estate is a must. There are four trails, the Duero water trail (1.8 miles), the Negralada Colossi trail (2.7 miles), the Valdebellon trail (3.4 miles) and the vineyard trail (4.7 miles). Situated in the former stable of the abbey, the Santuario spa is one of a kind. It’s the first spa to have a ‘spa sommelier’— guests taste and smell a selection of wines from the Abadia Retuerta Winery, then the sommelier analyzes the results to individually tailor the spa experience.
