Highlighting its exceptional gem-setting mastery, Rolex this year unveils the entirely gem-set Lady- Datejust watch. Crafted in 18-karat yellow gold, the fantastic watch is set with more than 200 brilliant- cut diamonds on the case sides, lugs and bezel. The much-coveted President bracelet is further ensconced with 596 brilliant-cut diamonds, and the pavé diamond dial boasts another 291 stones. Each diamond is painstakingly set by hand after the master setter readies the gold that holds it in place. The black Roman numerals are actually 18-karat gold with a black finish. The watch is powered by a mechanical movement, caliber 2236, which carries the brand’s exclusive Superlative Chronometer certification ensuring its durability and precision. That movement led to the development of multiple patents and is fitted with high-tech silicium and other alloy components. The 28mm Oyster case is fitted with a Twinlock winding crown with double waterproofness and a scratchproof sapphire crystal with a Cyclops lens over the date. Designed to emulate the colors of the universe “tinged with dreams,” the watch is the result of a wealth of interpretations of celestial skies and cosmic events. The focal point of the 18-karat white gold piece is an 8.05-carat oval-cut rich blue sapphire in the center. Around it are baguette- cut diamonds, beneath which is a breathtaking swirling motif of diamonds and sapphires in alternating rows of color and shimmer.
