It’s been an interesting challenge putting together this edition of our Hotels, Resorts and Spa Guide, as the hospitality industry has spent the better part (or, if we are being blunt, the worst part) of the year at a standstill. But what we aimed to create among these pages is a wanderlust- inspiring rundown of some of the best places to travel as soon as you are able to — a hit list for you to use to start planning the next few trips. We’ve covered some incredible hotels such as the Hotel Château du Grand-Lucé in France’s Loire Valley,

where you’ll find historic drama and regal intrigue. Some of your old favorites such as the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, where the Atlas Mountains provide a powerful backdrop for this tranquil oasis in the bustling metropolis. Or Hotel del Colorado — its 130 years of seaside charmmake it perfect for a quintessential American staycation for the whole family. What are hotels going to look like post-pandemic? That’s something that seems at the top of your minds as we all cautiously hope for a world where we can travel once again. Speaking to senior figures in the hotel industry, these measures range from the expected (sanitation increases for staff, guests, and the hotel itself) to the more imaginative (partnerships with transport companies to ensure that getting to their resort is as safe and unexposing as possible). Day 7 On your way back to Oban pass through Lochaline, an area of outstanding natural beauty known for its fly fishing. Keen anglers can take their rods ashore and test the water for salmon, trout and sea trout, or if you prefer some underwater exploration, the wrecks of the Sound of Mull are nearby. Day 8 Head back to Oban to disembark and return home on the Spirit of Laudale, a Cessna 208 seaplane. Alternatively, fly across Loch Linnhe to the Laudale estate. The recently refurbished house is an ideal base to continue your Scottish adventure. Try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, archery and sailing before retiring for a dram of whisky by the fire. Board Fair Lady in Oban, a quaint seaside town on Scotland’s west coast. Cruise to the island of Iona and drop anchor to head ashore for a bracing walk to the top of Dùn 1, and to explore white sand beaches and the island’s many historical sites. Summer 2020 saw the grand opening of Porto’s World of Wine (WOW), a new cultural destination in the Portugese coastal city perfect for oenophiles and gourmands alike. Q-Starling Samad Aerospace is a UK-based tech start-up. Its driving force is time — specifically, how to save this valuable asset by creating aircraft that can have you zipping over to Los Angeles from San Francisco for dinner, and get you back home in time to say goodnight to the kids. It has unveiled a concept for a personal air vehicle (PAV) named Q-Starling. This two-person aircraft combines elements from both fast jets and VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft. Alpine style After a career designing custom golf clubs, Peter Wagner rallied a team of ‘engineers, ski bums, woodworkers and designers’ to provide the same custom options to skiers, and so Wagner Skis was born. Head to Mountain Village, where the magic happens, and pick up your own pair of custom skis — the options are seemingly endless, and you can use your own artwork to decorate the skis to your liking. Beyond the slopes The main street’s architecture reflects Telluride’s history as a mining town, and there are a number of independent boutiques and art galleries. The aptly named Between The Covers has been operating since 1974, and the bookseller is ‘fiercely independent.’ You’ll find titles from local authors on the double-height shelves as well as over 10,000 books — grab a cappuccino from the store’s cozy cafe, High Alpine Coffee , while you peruse. Be sure to visit the Telluride Arts District , which is both a location and a nonprofit organization that supports local artists and hosts events. On and off piste Telluride has over 2,000 acres of skiable terrain and 148 trails, and is suitable for skiers of all abilities (there are no lifts exclusively for advanced terrain, as there is an easier trail down for every single lift, so beginners can still soak up the fantastic views). For something high octane, Telluride Helitrax can create a tailored itinerary for heliskiing or snowboarding on untracked terrain in the San Juan Mountains. CBD explained Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 400 chemical compounds that are found in the cannabis plant. CBD SKIN CARE

It’s one of the most talked-about trending ingredients and has a whole list of supposed benefits: alleviating anxiety, reducing inflammation and chronic pain, and easing insomnia. Now, Cannabidiol (CBD) has entered the skincare market. While topical application won’t have the same effect as when CBD is ingested, it still packs a punch. As CBD is anti-inflammatory, it can be suitable for those with sensitive skin; it is antibacterial so it works for acne-prone skin and can balance sebum production; and it helps to soothe redness from environmental factors and eczema, or after a chemical peel. The most important factor to consider when looking for CBD skin care is how it is extracted — if it is not extracted correctly, you’re left with hemp oil which, while still beneficial for the skin, is not the same thing as CBD. CO2 extraction is thought to be the most gentle and effective way of maintaining the CBD compound. US-based Khus + Khus’s products champion botanicals, and their Fix Face Potion has a whopping 225mg of CBD. MGC Derma uses specially grown hemp and has created its own
