BODHIMAYA Worldwide Award-winning wellness center Bodhimaya specializes in retreats and consultations in its Harley Street Clinic in London. The retreats include detox, yoga, fitness, nutritional therapy, mindful meditation and bespoke programs. It has locations all over the world, including private islands in the Maldives, villas in the south of France and palaces on Lake Como. With a whole host of experts on board, including nutritionists, meditation leaders, personal trainers, yoga instructors, facialists, bodywork therapists and specialist chefs, you can be sure of a complete overhaul. The team often uses genetic and biodata to provide in-depth detail into clients’ health and body needs, so you’ll feel rejuvenated not just for the duration of your program, but beyond. Bodhimaya can organize private retreats or, if you’d prefer, can send experts right to your home, no matter where you are in the world. There are a number of upcoming destinations and programs; the next is a stint in country manor Cowdray House in England from January 24-30, 2019. The retreat includes gut repair and personalized weight management, but be warned — there is no wine or coffee available. Our favorite option is the year-round, one-on-one retreats at Cliveden House in England. You can choose from existing programs such as mind and body reset, nutrition and biomarker analysis or stress and burnout management, or work with experts to create your own plan. Should you wish to have a more relaxed approach to your program or to break your fast with a decadent dinner, Cliveden House has two exceptional restaurants. There’s also a pre-wedding plan available — hardly surprising as this is where Meghan Markle spent the night before her wedding. From $880 per night for one-on-one retreat at Cliveden House. FONTEVERDE Tuscany, Italy

You’ll find Fonteverde nestled among the region’s famed rolling hills, and this quintessentially Tuscan resort evokes the detailed beauty of the Italian Renaissance. The peaceful resort and spa has stellar health and wellness plans, including a periodic-fasting- mimicking diet. Nicola Fortunati, Fonteverde’s spa director, explains, “The equilibrium fasting program aims to reduce inflammation of the gut and improve guests’ overall health. Recent research shows that reducing daily calorie intake by 30 percent leads to a longer life and reduced risk for noncommunicable diseases such as type two diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. As it can be difficult to fast continuously for a long period of time, the equilibrium fasting program uses the periodic- fasting-mimicking diet or mima-fasting diet. The seven-day program consists of two- to five-day periods of semi-fasting, during which guests consume 1,100-1,800 calories a day. The calorie intake and length of these periods is calculated according to an individual’s health and allows guests to leave the program feeling refreshed, healthy and rejuvenated.” The seven-day plan includes periods of semi-fasting and a personalized diet plan, all conducted under medical supervision with daily checkups. You’ll receive relaxing and lymph-draining treatments, Dipu jet massages, reflexology and thermal massage. To keep active (but not too active as to build up an appetite), there are daily morning hikes, postural yoga and fitness walks with a trainer. You’ll also receive a blueprint kit — a detailed report with recommendations and preventative treatments to safely continue at home. If you don’t want to do the full seven days, there are other options available. From $3,320 for seven-day plan per person.
