The Village is an all-day breakfast and brunch restaurant that passionately serves local ingredients from scratch, with the love and attention of old school hospitality. The story of how The Village became the place where the locals eat began when Jason Chan and his Uncle Barry bought The Village in Estevan Village in Oak Bay. It quickly became a neighbourhood favourite and was so popular it was featured on the Food Network hit show You Gotta Eat Here. The dream to open up a second location in Royal Oak was born when Brian Bobiak, who was a server at the time, had a vision to take the “from scratch, breakfast/ lunch model,” to another neighbourhood. “The friendly, hyper-local culture of The Village is something that every community deserves, and I had a vision for bringing this model to Royal Oak,” says Brian. With some help from family and the support of Jason, the dream became a reality. “The Royal Oak location has turned into something truly great for the community. We see the same faces weekly and have created some amazing relationships with the locals in this area,” says Brian. “We love the authentic connection our team creates with all our customers, whether they are discovering us for the first time or they are regulars.” The Village has 3 locations to serve you: the flagship, in Estevan, which was established in 2012, the Royal Oak location, who’s celebrating their 10th year and the Torquay location, which fills out the VILLAGE Trio, established in 2015. In 2021, with the success of the three Villages, the team opened a new concept eatery–Ghost Ramen, located on Store Street in downtown Victoria. “Taking the same model of a community driven culinary experience– but with locally made-from-scratch noodles along with a great bar program and atmosphere,” says Jason.
