they were freshman and did not have any connections with other players. However, as the season progressed the team grew closer and learned to trust each other. Senior Co-Captain, Dayana Gonzalez said that "the team realized that in order to succeed we had to learn that volleyball was a team sport, not an individual sport." She felt that the team learned the value and the importance of every position and every player, and with that they were able to believe in themselves and play as one team, not as one player. It was the beginning of the new season and the Desert Mirage girls’ Varsity Volleyball team had to be rebuilt. With only four returning varsity players Coach Robinson had his work cut out for him. He had to scout for new talent. The team learned how to connect not only on the court but off the court too. Senior Captain Leslie Eseberre said, “It was difficult for the team to learn to play together at first because they were not close friends.” Freshmen Ariana and Viviana Hernandez felt that it was “difficult” for them to create friendships with the team because

"When I would step up to the line to serve I kept in mind that every serve I make could be a point for the team, serving is an important part of volleyball it is how we begin our plays and our easiest way to get extra point when we need them, if we serve good then we play good" Ariana Hernandez (9)
