Beating to the Beat "Music makes me feel happy because it just fills the void of silence in the uttmost perfect way, when there is no one to talk to or people you want to ignore." -Devin Ruiz

Music is a part of everyone's daily life. It has been engraved into us since childhood. Whether you like it or not, music is universal. From sing-along songs to garage rock and everything in between. Some of us grew up with extreme musical backgrounds, while others use it to help express themselves. Music keeps us busy in our spare time. ''We just shut up and dance to crazy songs'' Andrea Oceguera (12) says. It is known to reduce stress and anxiety. It is also been scientifically proven that music is useful to treat depression. Fellow student Jorge Martinez (11) says, "I always enjoy dancing because it gets me out of my comfort zone." Tunes set the mood to get people to reach other people. Music is so powerful that many people have even left musical repertoire legacies behind. For instance, Michael Jackson no matter the age of the person all can relate or enjoy to his songs. So next time you are listening to your favorite song, just remember how amazing this form of media truly is. Not all of us were lucky enough to hear this auditory wonder. There's hardly anything more beautiful and expressive than music. It is a part of our lives, and without it, we would not be who we are today. Always remember that we can create music, we can also lose it if we just take advantage of it. Story by: Alex Angel
