"Knowing others is intelligence. Knowing yourself is wisdom. Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is absolute power."- Lao Tzu (Bryan Felix 12)

"This is the real secret of life--to be completely engaged with what you are doing... and instead of calling it work, realize it is play."- Alan Watts (Jessy Regalado 12)

It is obvious that words can maneuver and cause movements with the world or with oneself. Desert Mirage students are moved by words either passed on by their family members or something they found on the media that touched , connected with their hearts and lit a fire within them. Senior Rogelio Mendez 12 lives by the words, "He who blames others has a long way to go on his journey. He who blames himself is halfway there. He who blames no one has arrived."- (Chinese Proverb) He explained that living by this quote brought him closer to the people he wants to be like and helped him choose who his friends are. The quote, according to him self-reflect within him, because of past experiences that weighed him down, however he now lives in peace.

Senior Chuy Martinez's 12 father passed on the old adage, "Árbol que nace torcido, jamás su tronco endereza." In other words, one who is set on the wrong path from the very beginning will never straighten out. His father's advice influenced him to make better decision for a prosperous future. Spreading positivity Seniors Hugo Gonzalez and Brandon Garcia favorite adage to share, "De algo malo al final va pasar algo bueno" So, of a negativity always some positive will come in the end. All in all, I would like to share a quote which I live by, "Dime con quien te juntas y te dire quien eres." Walking a path I wasn't meant for, my father stopped me and had a serious conversation with me, It was that moment those words were introduced to me and I will live by them.
