Staying ON TRACK

There was so much more behind the front face of track and field it took long hours of "training, coaching, and perfecting in order to cross that finish line first, or jump a goal height, or throw a winning distance" says Senior Jasmin Gamboa . It wasn't easy to be apart of the track team it required a lot of mental toughness, you have to be determined and be able to motivate yourself to keep going. Sophomore Levi Barrios said that "its been the most challenging, tiring, and uplifting experiences." Coach Vera expressed how the track team "helped these young athletes to be patient, self driven, and hard working." The team learned to have an appreciation for the sport Senior Jimena Ordaz explained how she'll miss the "confidence and focus" she experienced while running as well as her supportive teammates and coaches that gave the motivation and support she needed to perform her "best and the ability to strive for greatness to it's highest degree." In moments before a race starts Freshman Catlyin Hill explained how she felt a "powerful accelerating rhythm" in her heart but as soon as the gun shot all her "troubles and worries evaporate in an instant" Story by: Tania Duenas

Ready to go! "Track and Field is one of the only sports in which you compete against yourself and that idea thrills me. Every time that I line up right before a race I ignore everything else around me and just think about how I can do better and improve myself"- Catlyin Hill (9)
