VYPE: Since you’ve been at Cypress Christian throughout your childhood and adolescence, how do you think the atmosphere at this school has shaped you? SWANTON: “It ’s shaped me in every way — emotionally, spiritually, physically and mentally. All my coaches have really been my greatest mentors, shaping me to have a strong mentality and keeping up with my physical ability. The teachers moments to push us, or when we’re going through tough times and help us to lean on God.” VYPE: You’re going to be graduating soon, so what do you want to do when you go to college? SWANTON: “I truly love competing as an athlete. But, I know at some point that will come to an end. With physical therapy, I feel like I can get myself plugged back into the realm of athletes. I can push them and help them physically and mentally with the injuries they experience. I feel like that will be a great way to make an impact.” will bring in Bible verses at the key
ALMOST EVERY SCHOOL, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE, HAS ITS STUDENT LEADERS. Senior Sophia Swanton fulfills that role with ease for Cypress Christian. Not only is she the captain of the Warriors cheerleading squad, but she has played key roles in each of the three consecutive TAPPS State Championships for the girls track team. Given her presence at CCS, it only makes sense to want to know more. This is the 411, where we get a more in-depth look at Cypress Christian senior Sophia Swanton. VYPE: What compels you to pursue two sports? SWANTON: “The community at CCS is something that I cherish a lot. All of the coaches are super kind and compel us to want to do more. That’s something that really pushes me to maximize my schedule. I just love being a part of the track and cheer communities.” VYPE: What do you like to do outside of school and athletics? SWANTON: “I love hanging out with my friends, it doesn’t even matter what we’re doing. Whether we’re just at home watching a movie and laughing, or going out to brunch, it’s always fun. I also love spending time with my family. I love traveling with them. It’s something I really enjoy and see as a blessing.”
