CYPRESS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IS BLESSED TO HAVE A UNIQUE GROUP OF RUNNERS ON THE CROSS COUNTRY TEAM EVERY SEASON. It takes committed individuals to attend early morning practices and endure Thursday afternoon speed work sessions in the heat of Houston, TX in August and September. Head Coach Justin Begnoche and his team talk frequently about how this sport uniquely needs to ‘see you dig’ (CUDIG) because the five team values are Competition, Unity, Discipline, Integrity and Gratitude. They wholeheartedly believe these characteristics make teammates who exhibit Christ to everyone around them as they seek to become better racers and followers. This dedication to excellence displayed by CCS student-athletes and volunteers has earned the cross country program an excellent reputation in the greater Houston area. This is evident when the team hosts the annual CCS Warrior Invitational, with this season’s record attendance surpassing 1,800 runners. Junior Caleb Burgos has played a vital role in the growth and success of the cross country program since his sophomore year. He achieved a top 15 placement at district and qualified for regionals in track the following spring. Caleb has already set a personal best in his junior season and aims to build on
