and enhance leadership opportunities for women attorneys in large law firms. Ten large law firms promoted this Call to Action – a first in Chicago – by signing a pledge. They quickly were joined by many other Chicago area firms and corpora- tions. The goals were, within three years, to increase the percent of women partners by three percentage points; have women represented on every firm committee in the same proportion as the number of women partners; review flexible hours policies and use to ensure that alternative schedules are an equitable and viable option; and improve materially any disparity in the rates in which men and women were retained, promoted and laterally recruited at the firm. “When Lynn and I co-chaired the Alliance, it was very important to create sustainable change in the gender make-up of the lawyers in Chicago by publicly disseminating the metrics that drive retention, development, and pro- motion and then rewarding the firms that were outperforming their peers with spotlights. It became an award- winning project that has since been used as a model by other bar associations. I learned so much from Lynn in this pro- cess and continue to admire her ability to achieve results in everything that she does by using her strategic drive with her collaborative style.” ‒ Jane DiRenzo Pigott, R3 Group LLC Second, in 2019 Grayson served as Co- Chair of the CBA/CBF Task Force on the Sustainable Practice of Law and Innovation with Justice Mary Ann Mason (Ret.). The goal was to shape a better future for the profession of law, the public, and the justice system. Over a 12-month period, Grayson andMason led dozens of lawyers and other legal professionals in exploring, research- ing, and analyzing all possible solutions to the market failure in the areas of consumer and small business legal services. The Task Force then proposed 11 comprehensive recommendations for regulatory reform in Illinois via a report to the Illinois Supreme Court. In April 2021, the Supreme Court of Illinois responded to these recommenda-

tions and commended the Task Force on their work. The Supreme Court of Illinois is currently working on a plan to implement seven of the Task Force’s recommendations in the very near future.

“I had not crossed paths with Lynn before co-chairing the Joint CBA/CBF Committee on the Sustainable Practice of Law and Innovation. As I look back on our partnership in this endeavor, I can’t imagine why not. Lynn is a natural born leader in so many ways. Col- laboration and problem solving are her second nature, and she brings to any professional project a willingness to listen and an innate ability to harmonize competing and sometimes disparate views. Lynn is the perfect person to lead the CBA into the post-pandemic world in which our profession will continue to innovate in the delivery of legal services so that ‘justice for all’ is not an ideal, but a reality” ‒ Justice Mary Anne Mason (Ret.)
