S outhern Indiana offers some great gaming options with a few land-based casinos in French Lick and Tropicana, and several riverboat options as well. The boats are anchored on the Ohio River in southern Indiana, while those in the north are on Lake Michigan. The boats remain dockside. There’s no rolling on the river, although the boats originally were intended to cruise. Many retain that riverboat look, and you can just imagine Gaylord Ravenal giving the cards a fancy shuffle while ruling the poker table at the riverboat saloon. Inside, of course, today’s resorts are nothing like Gaylord Ravenal could have imagined. For 2022, the same three properties return from last year with just a change at the top. Belterra Casino and Spa in Florence, about midway between Louisville and Cincinnati, reached the winner’s circle for Best Overall Gaming Resort.
