Return of Midnight Madness Excites Players revved up for the season with an unforgettable night full of cheering Lancers with their glowing lights

While students returned to a new normal this year, one of themost anticipated events onthecalendarwasMidnightMadness, whichwascanceled last year. Thisevent kicked off the basketball season for both the women’s and men’s teams. The event not only hyped up the teams for their upcoming season, but it provided entertainment with games and raffles for students, as well. The crowd had the opportunity to win money and gift cards to dining locations, as well as a chance to visit Disneyland. The main event was the three-point contest where the finals came down to point guard Ane Olaeta, graduate international education major from the women’s team, and point guard Tre Armstrong, junior kinesiology major from the men’s team. The contest was a tight battle, but ultimately Armstrong took home the victory, winning his second straight three-point contest trophy. The men’s team also put on the Battle of the Dunkers, where Keanu Rasmussen, freshman business administration major, was a fan favorite with his crowd-pleasing slam dunks.

“Midnight Madness was so fun to experience. I have always heard great things about the event from previous students and staff, so it was really exciting to be able to experience it for myself. My personal favorite part was the dunk contest. Overall, I made great memories with my friends and I am looking forward to next year’s Midnight Madness.” -Emelie Macias sophomore public relations major
