Life At Home Students pick up new skills and hobbies during quarantine The year is 2020. Toilet paper is out of stock. Neighbors you’ve never seen are running around the neighborhood. Whipped coffee is your new obsession. Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” dance is your entire feed while scrolling on TikTok. Bored in the house? You were in the house bored, reminiscing on the days where going to the beach and laying out wasn’t a crime. Throughout the infamous year, people chose to dedicate their extra time on picking up new skills and hobbies; some went as far as learning a new instrument, or teaching themselves how to knit clothes. During the virtual school year, CBU students were no exception.
“During quarantine I was able to start baking and decorating desserts. I really like baking because it is very stress relieving to me and I really enjoy looking at the finished product. My friends and I were able to star our own baking business, which we found really fun to just have a good tme together doing something we like. My favorite thing to do is detail work and decorating, but only when I’m .” -Grace Montoya freshman psychology major
“One thing that I picked up during quarantine was I actually got into computer building. I decided to ditch my old Mac laptop and built a tower PC for myself; that way I could do school and a couple of other things on there that would be more beneficial in a job scape. Over the course of two or three months I bought a bunch of parts and assembled the computer all by myself.” -Dylan Page junior public relations major
