“I found that I enjoyed the physical task of just carving into the block the most. It’s surprisingly relaxing. However, I found that planning where to carve was the most challenging. You have to have a strong understanding of positive and negative space but the end result is well worth the effort. I’m most proud of my Xeno’jiva carving and I’d love to get a better handle on multiple block prints.” -Emily Frederick senior graphic design and illustration double major

“It’s very therapeutic, and I love being able to have a creative outlet in the midst of my loaded school schedule. I am also constantly reminded of the potter and the clay in Jeremiah 18, and it’s so cool to learn the same process that God brings us through. Ceramics is one of those things that allows me to completely focus on what’s in front of me and the clutter in my mind just fades. It’s extremely freeing.” -Madey Truman senior kinesiology major
