Springfield 2016 The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) and The Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) are set to explore Springfield, Illinois on Tuesday, April 5* to Wednesday, April 6, 2016 . There will be opportunities to learn more about Illinois’ legislative process and how to lobby, as well as to meet with legislators, make new connections, and explore Springfield. Law students and attorneys of all experience levels are welcome. Highlights Include: • Opening reception at The Globe located at The President Lincoln Hotel • Issues Facing Our Legislature and Lobbying 101 CLE programs (earn up to 3 IL MCLE) • Tours of the Capitol Building and Illinois Supreme Court • Viewing of the General Assembly and Committees • Free Time to Explore Springfield (including the Lincoln Museum) • Access to Making Sausage and Legislation in Illinois: Registration $50 per person (includes Tuesday reception, light breakfast and lunch on Wednesday). Travel arrangements (hotel plus train/car) are responsibility of the attendee. *If you are interested in gaining some additional hands-on lobbying experience, you are welcome to join CBA and CBF staff members in Springfield during the afternoon of Tuesday, April 5. Hotel The President Lincoln Hotel is located at 701 E. Adams St. and has a group rate of $119 plus tax per night for Tuesday, April 5. Reservations can be made by calling 217-544-8800. Mention “The Chicago Bar Association” to receive the group rate. Note: Rate subject to change after March 15. Transportation Amtrak travels to and from Springfield daily. It is suggested that attendees take the 5:15 p.m. train departing on April 5 from Union Station (CHI) to Springfield (SPI). Attendees could also take the 7:00 p.m. on April 5, or, if unable to travel on Tuesday, the 7:00 a.m. on April 6, though traveling later on Tuesday or early Wednesday will result in missing the reception and/or the morning CLE programming. The group will take the 4:56 p.m. train back to Chicago on April 6, however, there is a 7:32 p.m. train for those wishing to spend additional time in Springfield.
