In August, the CBA's Young Lawyers Section took home several American Bar Association Awards of Achievement for the outstanding projects carried out by our members during the 2017-18 bar year under the leadership of Jonathan Amarilio. 2018-2019 Chair Brandon Peck and YLS Member Service Manager Alexis Crawford Douglas were on hand at the YLD Assembly to accept the Section's awards.

T he Justice John Paul Stevens Award Luncheon will be held onThursday, September 27, in the Grand Ball- room at the Standard Club. A reception for this year’s honorees will be held in the Living Room, 2nd Floor, beginning at 11:30 a.m. This year’s honorees are: Laurel G. Bellows, Carol A. Brook, Kevin P. Durkin, John N. Gallo, Terri L. Mascherin, Illinois Supreme Court Justice P. Scott Neville, Jr., Illinois Appellate Court Justice Jesse G. Reyes, Illinois Appellate Court Justice Mary K. Rochford and Tina Tchen. World City Bar Leaders Conference The Association will be hosting the 2018 World City Bar Leaders Conference in Chicago September 26-29 at the CBA Building. The World City Bar Leaders include leaders from the world’s largest metropolitan bar associations including: Beijing, Barcelona, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul, Warsaw, Ho Chi Minh City, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Chicago. The world’s largest city bar associations share many common concerns including: judicial independence, improved systems/ programs for accessing justice and the court system, public education about the law and the justice system, and the impact of technology on the practice of law. Topics that will be presented at the Chicago Conference will include “Protecting the Independence of the Judiciary,” “Introduc- tion to Artificial Intelligence and its Impact
