Illinois Judges Association Annual Luncheon The Illinois Judges Association Annual Luncheon will be held on Friday, Decem- ber 8, at the Palmer House Hilton. IJA President Judge John P. For more information or to order tickets, contact IJA Executive Director Kathleen Hosty at 312/431-1283 or info@ija.org. “Lawyers Call to Action” November 3 As a follow-up to the Association’s Town Hall Meeting last May on “Curbing the Violence in Chicago,” Chicago-area bar associations are co-sponsoring a special program for community organizations and lawyer volunteers on Friday, November 3, from 9:00 a.m.–12: 30 p.m. at the Chicago Bar Association. More than 20 community organizations will be present to discuss the work of their organizations and need for specific legal services. Members from Chicago-area bar associations have been invited to attend the summit and may volunteer to provide legal services to one or more of the community organizations. The legal services needed involve myriad issues including real estate, family law, veterans affairs, state licensing issues, expunge- ments, etc. The November 3 program is a great opportunity for lawyers to step up and provide legal help to community orga- nizations and to the people they serve. M embers and guests will not want to miss the spectacular Rome program, which promises to be one of the best ever! CBA President Judge Thomas R. Mulroy and the Rome Plan- ning Committee have put together an out- standing CLE program, which will include the President of the Rome Bar Association and a number of prominent Italian law- yers, including Alex Guttieres, Guttieres & Grillandini; Roberto Jacchia , DeBerti Jacchia Franchini Forlani; Giovanni Salvi, Magistrate and Prosecutor General; and Carlo Dalla Vedova who represented Amanda Knox. The Rome law firm of Tonucci & Partners will host a welcome reception for CBA members and guests at their beautiful office building located in the historic Piazza del Popolo on Monday, April 16. The closing dinner on Thursday, April 19, will be held at one of Rome’s most famous restaurants, Casina Valadier. A variety of tours are planned during the

visit, including the Roman Forum, Bor- ghese Gallery and Museum, and the Rome courts. The Rome program will provide members with four hours of MCLE credit and will include presentations about the Amanda Knox case, immigration, mafia prosecutions, and the changing role of women lawyers in Italy.
