things over the past couple of years. Indeed, the increased isolation felt by many lawyers is one of the most acute effects of the pandemic. Ours is a social profession that requires strong relation ships with clients, co-workers, judges, and even opposing counsel to achieve positive results and build a sense of com munity. I hope the focused support we are giving to these social interactions will allow the Chicagoland legal community to achieve an even greater level of collegi ality and comity. The increased frequency of in-person events also helps the YLS work more with our affinity bar partners throughout the Chicago legal community. An example of one of those partnerships is an event planned for December 15. In collabora tion with the CBA DICE Committee (Diversity Inclusion Culture Equity & Engagement) and the Japanese Ameri can Bar Association, the YLS is proud to present a dramatic reenactment of the Korematsu v. United States case. Fred Korematsu’s fight for justice is a quint essentially American story, and it is one that deserves to be told. I encourage all to attend and learn about the long arc of the moral universe bending toward justice. Finally, I invite all readers to one of the biggest in-person events of the bar year: the YLS Holiday Party, which will be held at the CBA Building on Decem ber 8. We will once again spread holiday cheer during this event by facilitating a collection of wrapped presents donated through the YLS’s Dear Santa Letters pro gram. Please join as we try to help make the holiday season special for all the chil dren who are served through this excep tional program. I look forward to seeing you soon, live and in-person. Enjoy the holiday season!

The holiday spirit has me thinking about the idea of quality time and what it means to those of us in the legal profession. So far this bar year, the Young Lawyers Section has emphasized returning to a full, normal schedule of events, includ ing in-person events where the time spent with others is truly quality time. I am heartened by the enthusiasm we have seen for these events from young lawyers and law students. The robust attendance at the All Bar Social, Meet the Committees Night, and the Pro Bono Fair, to name but a few, demonstrates that our members continue to clamor for a return to meaningful in person networking. The professional and personal connections made (and strength ened) at in-person events are invaluable and are the chief reason why we keep pushing for the return of these events. There is simply no substitute for the quality and durability of connections made when you meet someone face-to face. The pandemic deprived us of many
