the highlights is the crust: it is very thin, perfectly crispy, and fla vorful. Well-done is not a must here, but it is recommended. The sauce here is on the sweeter side, but still well balanced with acid ity and aromatics. Marie’s, too, is generous with their toppings, and in particular, their sausage is unique and excellent. When you visit Marie’s, come hungry, but not too hungry –otherwise, you might eat a 14-inch pizza on your own!
but it harkens back to old-school Italian restaurants with booths and red-checkered tablecloths. The iconic neon sign out front welcomes you in for excellent pizza. The crust, although slightly thicker than Pat’s, is crispy, flavorful, and delicious. The sauce here is also on the sweeter side, but it has enough spices and aromatics to balance out the sweetness and give it body. Frank’s uses the perfect amount of cheese on its pizzas, so they have some gooey creaminess, but the pizza is never too heavy or too difficult to eat. The sausage at Frank’s is very heavy on the fennel, which further helps balance out some of the sauce’s sweetness, and it is a bomb of flavor in and of itself. If you like fennel, you will love the sausage at Frank’s. Overall, Frank’s is another well-established, under-the-radar Northwest Side pizza joint that is a must visit.
