He cites a generational shift in attitudes toward work-life balance, with younger professionals being clearer about what they are will ing to trade. Corporate and legal leaders who recognize and adapt to these changing expectations can redefine what leadership looks like in their organizations. He encapsulates this perspective on sacrifice with a line attrib uted to Stephen Covey: “Give up something good for something better.” For lawyers, this might mean prioritizing long-term client trust over short-term gains or investing in mentorship and profes sional development. Leaders spend enormous amounts of time investing in their organizations. Their people. Their technology. Marketing. Strat egy. But the highest-return investment any leader can make is in themselves, because “Your health affects your energy. Your energy affects your thinking. Your thinking affects your decisions. And your decisions shape your organization’s future.” And as Kalin owski points out, “That isn’t just wellness. That’s leadership!” These insights are reminders that leadership is not a desti nation but a continuous process of growth and adaptation. For lawyers, as with corporate professionals, this means embracing
uncertainty, balancing risk and action, and leading with purpose and conviction. By applying these principles, legal professionals can navigate the complexities of their roles and inspire others to do the same.
