About the Cover: In honor of Black History Month, on the cover is is an example of Kente cloth. Kente refers to a Ghanaian textile made of handwoven cloth, strips of silk, and cotton. Historically the fabric was worn in a toga-like fashion by royalty; in modern day Ghana, the cloth is worn on special occasions. bell hooks, pseudonym of Gloria Jean Watkins, (1952-2021) was an American scholar and activist whose work examined the connections between race, gender, and class. She often explored the varied perceptions of Black women and Black women writers and the development of feminist identities.
