more than twice in five years, nor for two years in succession. The Nominating Committee will receive nominations for eight board vacan- cies, which will expire at the Association’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 21, and for the offices of Secretary, Treasurer, and Second Vice-President. Terms for service on the Board of Managers are two years and commence at the Annual Meeting. Members wishing to nominate themselves or another member for an officer or board vacancy may do so in writing or by emailing their nomination to me at the Association, 321 S. Plymouth Court, Chicago, IL 60604, or tmurphy@ chicagobar.org. The Bylaws specify that nominations from the members must be received no later than March 13, 2018. A general notice to the members will be sent in February identifying the members of the 2018 Nominating Committee and the timetable for completion of their work. Illinois Attorney General Candidates Forum The Association is hosting a forum for Illinois Attorney General Candidates on Thursday, February 22, at the State of Illi- nois Building from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. WGN Political Analyst and Emmy Award- Winning television host Paul Lisknek will moderate the forum. Mr. Lisnek is also the host of Politics Tonight on CLTV and a podcast called Behind the Curtain, which addresses/discusses politics, theatre, and other Chicago interests. The forum is being sponsored by the Association as a public service to help educate Illinois voters about the views and plans of the following 10 Attorney General candidates: Erika Harold , Gary Grasso , Senator Kwame Raoul , Renato Mariotti , Nancy Rote- ring , Scott Drury , Pat Quinn , Sharon Fairley , Jesse Ruiz and Aaron Goldstein . The Association does not endorse political candidates and will not endorse any of the Illinois Attorney General candidates. Members and guests are welcome to attend the Attorney General Candidates Forum.

N ow is the best time for members to register for the Association’s CLE in Rome program, April 16-19, 2018. Members will earn four hours of MCLE credit during the program, which will include substantive presentations about the Amanda Knox case, immigra- tion law, and a comparative perspective on ethics in the law. Our speakers from Rome include Carlo Dalla Vedova who repre- sented Amanda Knox; Alex Guttieres , Guttieres & Grillandini; and Roberto Jacchia , DeBerti Jacchia Franchini Forlani . Tonucci & Partners , one of Rome’s lead- ing firms, will host the opening reception and the CLE programming at their beauti- ful office building located in the Piazza del Popolo. The closing dinner will be held at one of Rome’s most famous restaurants, Casina Valadier. A variety of tours are planned during the visit, including the Roman Forum, Borghese Gallery and Museum, and the Rome courts. For more

CBA Nominating Committee The 2018 Nominating Committee is in formation and will be selected by the end of January pursuant to Section 8.3 of the Association’s Bylaws, which provide for a committee consisting of 17 members selected as follows: five committee chairs are randomly drawn from the CBA’s 94 standing committees; three members of the Young Lawyers Section, one of whom is the current Chair of the YLS; four members are selected by the Past Presidents Com- mittee, two of whom are past presidents and two of whom are at-large members of the Association; and four at-large members selected by the Board of Managers. Under the Bylaws, the immediate past president one year removed from the Board serves as Chair of the Committee. No member may serve on the Nominating Committee
