Duran, Jeff Moskowitz, Svetlana Gitman, Alexis Crawford Douglas, Tracy Bram- meier, Katherine Oswald, Katherine Schnake, Natalie Chan, and Dan Berkow- itz. Without their constant support, this exceptional year for the YLS would not have been possible. I especially want to give credit where credit is due. The staff and leadership of the CBA and YLS are the ones who con- tinue to make this organization the giant it is year after year. Little, if anything, gets done without the guidance of our staff and leadership. I want to thank Jennifer Bryne, our Executive Director, for her tireless dedication to this organization. Without Jennifer’s organization, reminders and daily help, many of us would be lost, myself included. The staff of the CBA plays a vital role in the success of the YLS. I want to thank Beth McMeen, who has always been, and continues to be, a supporter of the YLS. Earlier this year, Beth was gracious enough to sit in on an entire day of interviews for the YLS as we filled roles for the new Executive Committee. Additionally, I want to thank Sharon Nolan, Karen Stanton, and Tamra Drees for their support of the YLS. I count myself lucky to have had the pleasure of knowing Executive Director Terry Murphy for the past twenty years. I would like to thank him for his guid- ance, ideas, and suggestions, but most importantly for keeping me on the right path. Terry’s presence is something special that I do not take for granted, and I look forward to working with him this year, and for many years to come. No one has time to reinvent the wheel, so the path my prior YLS Chairs left for me to follow has been invaluable. I want to thank Jon Amarilio, Matt Passen, Paul Ochmanek, and Katie Liss for the road map they created, and for the continued support they show on a year to year basis. I am a third generation attorney in Chicago and have had the privilege of working with my grandfather and father, simultaneously, and now with my father on a daily basis. As you grow older, you develop a different relationship with your

The Year in Review By Brandon E. Peck YLS Chair T his past year has flown by at an incredible speed. I can distinctly recall sitting in my office approxi- mately ten months ago, outlining my first column for the CBA Record. What stands out to me over the course of this past year is the hours of tireless work that members of the Young Lawyers Section have dedicated to this organization. Without the support of each and every member of the YLS, the accomplishments of this year would simply not have been possible. I want to take a moment to thank all those individuals that have made this another fantastic year for the YLS. Starting with those whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know better through the Board of Managers, the Chicago Bar Foundation, socials, and 8:00 a.m. breakfast meetings: CBA President, Steve Elrod; First Vice President, Jesse Ruiz; Second Vice Presi- dent, Maryam Ahmad; Secretary, Lynn Grayson; andTreasurer, TimothyTomasik. The YLS does not function without the support and guidance of our “big bar” counterparts.Working with these individu- als on a routine basis has been invaluable over the course of this past year. I also want to thank the officers and directors of the YLS, including: Octavio
