NILES METROPOLITAN CHORUS

The Niles Metropolitan Chorus performances are exciting, approachable, and welcoming. Founder and Artistic Director Marek Rachelski blends together singers from across the Chicago metropolitan area for exploration of major works and oratorios. Their repertoire ranges from the Baroque to Contemporary, looking towards featuring newly composed music. Accompanied by the Musica Lumina Orchestra (founded 1999) comprised of the area’s top instrumentalists and often featured on its own, these two ensembles provide an artistic outlet in the North/Northwest metro area for quality presentations. In five seasons the NMC/ML has performed major works of the repertoire: Requiems of Cherubini, Mozart, Faure, Rutter; Magnificats of Pärt, Bach and Pergolesi; Gounod’s St. CeciliaMass and selections from his operas Faust and Romeo and Juliet ; Haydn’s Creation , Rossini’s Stabat Mater , Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Lobgesang, a yearly Handel’s Messiah , and both the St. John and St. Matthew Passions of J. S. Bach. Formed in 2013, the Niles Metropolitan Chorus continues to expand its repertoire and welcomes singers from all walks of life and backgrounds. Join us!
