LEGAL DRAG RACING MATURED IN THE EARLY NINETEEN FIFTIES. ‘WEIGHT’ TRANSFER BECAME IMPORTANT FOR BETTER TRACTION AND THE OBVIOUS AGGRESSIVE STANCE. THAT’S IMPORTANT FOR THE SATURDAY NIGHT CRUISE AT THE DRIVE IN.

THE GAS CLASSES AT THE DRAGS BECOME ‘GASSERS’ . THE LOOK WAS JUST WAY TOO COOL AND WAS ADOPTED TO THE INSURANCE SALESMAN’S PLYMOUTH BUSINESS COUPE AND THE LIBRARIAN’S BATHTUB NASH. STRAIGHT BEAM FRONT AXLE, LADDER BAR REAR AND A VERY LUMPY CAMSHAFT MADE THE SCENE.

A FORMULA FOR SPEED IS TO INCREASE HORSEPOWER

AND TORQUE , PLUS TRACTION AND THEN ADD LIGHTNESS .

...AND MORE... MONEY!

FIAT TOPILINO ‘LITTLEMOUSE’ IN ITALIAN CROSSES THE POND AND BECOMES A RAT POWERED ‘B-GASSER’ .

WILLYS IMPROVED THE STYLING WITH SOME ADOPTED FORD IDEAS, BUT IT TOOK MANY, MANY YEARS TO LIVE UP TO THAT ‘SPEEDWAY’ TITLE.

IN 1939, WILLYS HAD SOME DISTINCTIVE ‘SLIPSTREAM’ STYLING APPLIED TO A MODEL THEY CALLED ‘SPEEDWAY’ WITH 62hp, EVEN AT 2200lbs. NOT A THRILLER.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE’S ARE THE COMING THING AND OF COURSE THEY WILL HAVE SOME UTILITY

- JUST NOT ‘GASSER’ MATERIAL.

NOTHING SAYS ‘GASSER’ LIK 1941 WILLYS ‘AMERICAR’ STUFFED WITH A BIG BLOCK HEMI !

ORIGINALLY AS AN AFFORDABLE EVERYDAY WORK CAR, THEY HAD MODERATE SALES

SUCCESS IN THE 30s AND 40s. AFTER THE WAR, WILLYS CONCENTRATED ON BUILDING JEEPS. THE FIFTIES DRAG RACERS WANTED SOMETHING LIGHTER THAN THE AVERAGE POPULAR CAR AT THAT TIME. THE 100 INCH WHEELBASE WILLYS WAS THERE JUST WAITING TO BE LOVED.

COLORFUL , LIGHTWEIGHT , PLENTIFUL AND PERFECT FOR ALL THE GAS CLASSES FROM SMALL BLOCKS TO MONSTER HEMI’S. NOT BAD FOR A 90 YEAR OLD DESIGN.

To all our Loyal Readers. We hope you enjoyed this Drag Racing Themed Issue. Our last Drag Racing themed issue was back in 2016 with Issue #4. Definitely check that one out. We are currently working on Issue #49. This time we are going full tech. It was time to add a little education to learn everything about the great “Automobile”. Also we great news, this issue might get CARtoons into the school book fairs. We believe it is time to get more of the younger generation into this industry to keep it alive and well. So when we announced that we are in with the schools, definitely help spread the word and even order a copy or 2. This way we can get more book versions of CARtoons in more school book fairs. The biggest CARtoons grows, so will everything around the brand which will result more amazing things to come. As for our other announcements, we are just not there yet to share the potential great news. Keep your fingers crossed as it will be huge! Keep on CARtoon’n! With tons of love from the entire CARtoons Team!!! Sincerely; Marc Methot - CEO of CARtoons Magazine Inc. Do you ever put subscribers cars in your magazine? My son races my Falcon Gasser “Adam Lowhorn” the car is called Rod Slinger and we race with the south east gassers. It’s a fan favorite from the half track wheel stands it does. You can view it on YouTube and Facebook. Just wondering. Thanks. M Lowhorn We allow our Artists to write and illustrate their stories. You would have to ask one of our Artists on social media with this request. You never know. Thanks for the support. I just received my magazines and they were in great shape. I will be ordering from you again soon and it will probably be #10-14. Thanks again. Love your magazine. It brings back great memories. P. Toth To take pride when packaging our orders. All goal is to make sure your order arrives undamaged so you can enjoy what you paid for in the condition it left our facility. Thanks for all you support! Thank you for sharing your memories. Hope we create new ones for you with the newly revived CARtoons. We can’t believe it has been 8 years since we started and this is Issue #48. Time flies! I just wanna say how happy I am to find CARtoons is still in business! I somehow got one random issue as a kid in central BC Canada (tumbler ridge)! I was a comic collector and your magazine always stuck with me over the years and on numerous occasions would try to explain it to my friends! I am not sure what issue I have (yes still have it in a box some where due to moving). But it’s still intact minus the cover for some reason, haha. So I just ordered issues 1-12 and when done with those I will order the next bundle! Also got a few stickers to stick on my next hot rod! I have had a 64 Comet, 69 Mach 1, 78 trans am, fox body mustangs, 75 stingray... but nothing at the moment. I am saving up for something cool. The issue I had was of Bernie building a Porsche and his daily kept getting dinged and ppl threw money at him so his Porsche project got done fast! Thanks for the great memory! That is all. C. Thank I just read the trial issue 0 today after receiving my order I placed for all 46 issues. I saw the sticker, issue 47 and the 3D issue 17 and I'm absolutely amazed at this. I read issue 0 cover to cover and while I read it and looked at the pictures and art, it took me back to my childhood when I was reading CARtoons magazine and hot rod, car and driver etc. But I remember CARtoons magazine the most. I introduced my son to this today and he thought it was so cool. I also ordered the other 3 variant issues of the 3D and the Elvis variant. Are there any other variant issues and are they available also. Thanks for bringing this great icon of my generation back to life. B. Bryan

All our merch is available on our website. We love to gift all our customers. The more spent, the more valuable the gift. Great to hear your son loves CARtoons. It is all about getting the young generation into the auto scene.

It is great to hear your son loves our Magazine. Of course your husband as well. As the support grows, so will our magazine. Thank you for that and for sharing your story. I originally ordered for my husband as he grew up with CARtoons. Then our son was jealous and said he loved the magazines so I had to order him a pack… I couldn’t order anything different because then my husband would have been jealous. Hahah! These are problems I face! A. Crone Hey, folks: Like half of the western world, I grew up on CARtoons Magazine. I'm delighted to see you back in print. However, unlike most of your readers, I grew up to become a cartoonist and Illustrator. Like CARtoons, I too went on hiatus for a little while. But, I'm excited to be back rocking the drawing table again. As a related sample of my work, here's a promo poster that I did for a hillbilly band. Please, tell me about your submission guidelines. Cheers, L. Keough Thanks for sharing your work. we do have

a “My ARToons” page in our mag where readers like yourself can have their art work published in CARtoons.
