Winning is fun, but I think I get the most excited about being able to build relationships and help motivate these kids. “ ” “I love coaching track,” said DeShazo. “It ’s fun figuring out the pieces of the puzzle, breaking down and coaching individual techniques, getting your team the most points possible. FOLLOWING LAST SEASON’S FIFTH CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT TITLE, BRIDGE CITY GIRLS’ TRACK IS ANTICIPATING TO CONTINUE THEIR DOMINANCE. Head coach Jamie DeShazo has high expectations for her team, as they have been preparing for months. “Our goal every year that we set as a team is to win a District Championship,” said DeShazo. “We know that track can be viewed as an individual sport, but we like to see what we can do together as a team. The athletes buy in and will do what is best for the team.” DeShazo will look to her seniors – Audry LeLeaux, Morgan Louvier, Amaris Larkin and Gracelon Freeman – to lead her team to success. “We have some returning athletes that we’re excited to have coming back this season,” DeShazo said. “Audry [LeLeaux] is an athlete every coach wants on their team. She’s a great leader and would do any event to help the team. Morgan [Louvier] has been a Regional Qualifier in multiple events, her main one being the pole vault, and we expect big things from her. Amaris [Larkin] will be a sprinter and thrower for us. She’s a tremendous asset to the program and sets a great example. She leads the team in prayer before every meet. Also, one of our
