IT’S A GREAT DAY! My name is Lindy Welborn, and I am the CTE and Secondary Curriculum Coordinator for Bridge City ISD. This is my 16th year in education and my fourth year in Bridge City ISD. I transitioned during the 2022-2023 school year from an Assistant Principal to my current position and I am excited to see how I can serve Bridge City ISD in this new role. In my Career and Technical Education (CTE) role, my goals are to continue improving and developing our current programs of study and promote CTE to our Bridge City community. Due to the size of our district, we are required by the state of Texas to have two programs of study in place. I am proud to report that Bridge City ISD currently offers 20 programs of study to our students. Our partnership with Lamar State College-Orange is instrumental in our expanded student offerings and we will continue working cohesively with them to be able to provide the best to our students. CTE courses are not something that ’s just limited to BCHS. I am pleased to say that we are making some CTE courses available at the Middle School level and hope to continue adding more in the future. In addition to all the other exciting things going on, we have taken on the project of building a STEM bus from the ground up. This project is actively in the works, and I am hopeful it will be unveiled in May of 2023. Fingers crossed with lots of work from our students and staff along with the financial support of our community and this dream is quickly becoming a reality. It ’s exciting times in the CTE world as we watch the much-needed CTE facilities start taking shape. Our CTE teachers have been part of the design process and we can’t wait to see their plans come to fruition. Follow our CTE Facebook page to keep up with our classes and building progress.
