the GPT with others and let them run it on their systems. You can create a GPT that you can share with a paralegal or legal intern to run rather than worrying that they will not perform the research the way you wanted it done. It can definitely help with the super vision of others. DEEP RESEARCH Another big change has been the intro duction of the Deep Research feature on some of the AI systems. Both ChatGPT and Gemini have this capability at the time of this article. The Deep Research tool can be used a few times a month but can be quite powerful. Unlike personal GPTs or a prompt indicating that you want to search other Internet content, a Deep Research option provides a much more holistic research opportunity. It is more analogous to giving an associate or paralegal a research project than to the general AI prompts. The deep research will take several minutes to complete. I have seen them take up to 15 minutes for a complex research topic. The result of the deep research will be much

more thorough than a normal AI result. I have seen results that can be more than 7.500 words. They usually display data in tables where it makes sense. They do a good job at comparing and contrasting results. The major caveat AI remains true: Check the results because AI hallucinates. Even though AI is getting better, hallucinations remain an issue. Personal GPTs can still miss data you want to see in the results or add a result that is not true. Sometimes the response is just wrong. The Deep Research results can miss a result that it should have included or added a result that did not exist. Two ways to minimize hallucinations are to avoid asking for data that can be unreliable, and to specifically ignore data from some sources. For example: consumer ratings can be artificially high because the seller uses “bots” to upvote their products and downvote competitor products. 2 Be certain that you avoid satirical websites 3 like “The Onion” because AI has a difficult time dis tinguishing fact from satire.
