Over 19,000 attorneys are licensed to practice in the state of Kentucky. It is vitally important that you keep the Kentucky Bar Association (KBA) informed of your correct mailing address. Pursuant to SCR 3.035, all KBA members must maintain a current address at which he or she may be communicated, as well as a physical address if your mailing address is a Post Office address. If you move, you must notify the Executive Director of the KBA within 10 days. All roster changes must be in writing and must include your 5-digit KBA member identification number. Address or e-mail changes?! Notify the Kentucky Bar Association Director a unique, valid email address and shall upon change of that address notify the Director within 10 days of the new address. Members who are classified as a “Senior Retired Inactive” or “Disabled Inactive” member are not required to maintain a valid email address on file and those “Honorary” members who no longer actively practice law or maintain an office. Combs III of Pikeville will serve as the CLE Program Committee Chair. • Approved one (1) Disabled Inac tive Status request pursuant to SCR 3.030(6)(a). • Ratified the email votes for the follow ing matters: moving forward with the replacement windows for Bar Center Building; hiring of Deputy Bar Counsel Lucas Deaton in the Office of Bar Coun sel and certifying the Board nominees for the Judicial Nominating Commis sion General Election. • Approved the total reserve/surplus carry forward of the Clients’ Security Fund for fiscal year ending on June 30, 2024. • Mr. Meyers reported that most of the sections have a substantial balance of unused dues money and annually these funds are carried forward. The Board discussed sending a letter to the section’s leadership asking for them to provide an annual report of their activities for the past year as well as their plans for future activities with the section. • Approved changing the name of the KBA Military Law Committee to Mil itary and Veteran’s Law Committee. • Approved the request of the Ethics Committee that if a legal issue is raised through a subpoena or other issue involving an Ethics Hotline Member that the KBA will assume legal respon sibility to represent the volunteer with the selection of the attorney represent ing the member to be left to the KBA. • Pursuant to KBA Bylaw Section 11(c), the Board approved the interim section officers to fill the current vacancies for the following sections: Family Law Sec tion - Chair Peter Catalono, Chair-Elect Catherine Monzingo, Vice Chair Allen Dodd, Secretary Sean Paris and Trea surer Martha Rosenberg. LGBT Law Section – Chair A. Lee Shaw, Chair Elect remains vacant and Vice Chair Jessica Wimsatt. • Approved the recommendation of the KBA Legislative Committee to deny the

request of the Probate & Trust Law Sec tion to lobby on issues of the Uniform Trust Act as it does not fall within the scope of the mission and the purpose of the KBA under the Supreme Court Rules 3.025, and specifically “bear a sub stantial and continuing responsibility for promoting the efficiency and improve ment of the judicial system.” • Mr. Meyers reported that the Kentucky Bar Foundation has set a 10-year plan to raise Foundation grants up to a half million dollars per year. KBF/IOLTA Executive Director Susan Duncan has been very active in raising funds and the upcoming issue of the Bench & Bar features many new Fellows. Ms. Duncan is working to enroll all appellate judges as Fellows and has successfully accom plished this goal. In addition to the KBF goals, Ms. Duncan has been looking into some software updates for IOLTA. • Mr. Meyers reported on the progress of the new database. Currently we are accepting proposals, and the staff have been meeting with each company to review needs/wants and hope to be narrowing down the proposals and hopefully have a recommendation at the next meeting. • Mr. Meyers reported that the KBA has changed the language in the “dis claimer” in both the Bench & Bar and on the CLE programming materials to make it clear that any publication or any article or statement is not to be deemed an endorsement of the views expressed therein by the Board of Governors, sections/divisions, committees or mem bers. It would only be the opinion of the author. • Mr. Meyers reported the CLE Educa tional Year Annual Report included in their materials was filed with the Supreme Court on September 13 th by Director for CLE Cassie Cooper.
