NABIP Engagement
Confidence through community When Delaware-based agent Tishalla McNeil joined NABIP in late 2025, she was looking for new learning opportunities. As co-owner of Thy Agape Group with her husband, Quwali, Tishalla focuses on life insurance while he specializes in health coverage. What inspired you to join NABIP? I was invited by a business partner, Yolanda Muhammad. email that comes through. I like taking classes and expanding what I can offer. Do you see yourself getting involved locally or attending events? I love networking. In Delaware, a lot of us run in the same circles, and I’m always looking for events where I can meet people, share ideas and maybe collaborate. I
I started looking into NABIP to see what the association offered and thought, this looks pretty cool! I’m always looking to build and learn more about my profession, so it felt like a good fit. Tell us a little about Thy Agape Group. My husband and I have been in the insurance industry for over a decade. We started out doing final-expense coverage and grew from there. Now we help families with everything from mortgage protection and children’s policies to annuities and IULs. We each have our lane, but it all connects when we’re helping clients understand what protection really means for their families. What excites you about your NABIP membership? was raised in Atlantic City, so when I heard NABIP’s 2026 Annual Convention will be there, I was excited. What keeps you motivated in this work? Education. So many people don’t realize how important life insurance is until it’s too late. My job is to help them see that having a policy is about protecting your family and your peace of mind.
Office of Transformation: member tools, chapter unity
NABIP has launched the Office of Transformation to turn big goals into member-visible progress. The office is responsible for advancing strategic priorities and coordinating work that extends beyond annual leadership cycles. Director of Transformation Tim Kanter is moving the agenda forward with early fundraising and a plan for what members will see first. Kanter says the focus is on equipping chapters, modernizing systems and making it easier for new professionals to join and stay active. “We need to give chapters better tools and a louder voice,” he says. That starts with funding to accelerate technology upgrades
that improve NABIP’s website and association management system, giving leaders better visibility into renewals and engagement. It also includes support for chapter websites and the rollout of a digital strategy pilot. Fundraising is already underway, seeded by leadership commitments and early matches to build momentum before year-end. The goal is to fuel upgrades that benefit national, state and local levels without straining the core budget. Kanter’s target is to show meaningful progress by Capitol Conference in February 2026, with continued build-out through 2026.
