Going Movies By Tim Adriance to the PART 2

Welcome back from the intermission following Part 1 of our two-reel drama (see Autumn Years , Fall 2023). Join us as we again raise the curtain on the history of movie theaters in Bergen County. Previously, we learned there have been at least 84 movie theaters in Bergen County over the years. And that the first showing of “moving

pictures” in Bergen County dates back to 1898. Before Hollywood, Fort Lee was the center of the cinematic production universe (from 1907 into the early 1920s). We also saw the transition from Nickelodeons to “movie palaces.”
