STORYTELLERS BARBARA & MANOS ANGELAKIS Enjoying an Unexpected Second Act

Barbara and Manos Angelakis of Hackensack had

diametrically different upbringings—she was raised

by a widowed, financially struggling Jewish mother

in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and he in a prominent

Greek Orthodox family in Athens, Greece. However,

after they met in New York City in the fall of 1968,

their culturally dissimilar lives interlocked, and they

were pleasantly surprised to learn they are more alike

than either imagined possible. In fact, in retirement,

their synchronized talents and interests have made

possible an unexpected second act to their already

accomplished collaborative careers.
