All About Holland 2026

DOWNTOWN

Ice Park

For almost a century, the City of Holland dreamed of building a community ice park. Thanks to a beloved local teacher and modern engineering, that dream became a reality in 2025.

Frank Kraai, a retired Holland school teacher, was 86 when he discovered he was a millionaire. Inspired by a lifelong vision, he donated his life savings, $1.1 million, to help turn a long-held community dream into an $11 million, 14,000 square-foot ice park in the heart of downtown Holland. In the past, inconsistent ice conditions kept the idea on hold. Today, innovative engineering keeps the ice frozen from November to March when daily temperatures are below 50 degrees. One of the largest of its kind in North America, the Holland Ice Park welcomes skaters to a spacious central pond and ribbon looping around landscaped islands. Visitors can also enjoy a dedicated curling rink, skate rentals, and gathering areas warmed by Holland’s renowned snowmelt system. That same system connects the ice park to the surrounding downtown district, guiding guests along snow free sidewalks to nearby boutique shops, cozy cafes, and local breweries.

Located within Window on the Waterfront Park, the Holland Ice Park invites all to gather by its crackling fireplaces and experience a winter wonderland crafted by imagination and creative engineering. Whether you're gliding across the ice or watching the fun with a hot cocoa in hand, Holland Ice Park is where winter dreams come true.
