All About Holland 2024

Snowmelt

Spring

Beyond the Weekend

Since 1988, residents and visitors alike have enjoyed snow-free streets and sidewalks in downtown Holland all year long. The underground piping for the system is over six miles long and uses waste energy to create the largest publicly-owned snowmelt system in North America. Holland offers sure-footed jogging, dog walking, and downtown explorations, even in the midst of winter.

Nature is a finicky being, especially in springtime. This is why the smart parks department folks in Holland plant early, mid, and late blooming tulips. Many years, the end of April is filled with blooms and only locals to enjoy them. In others, her glorious colors span the entire month of May, well beyond the tulip festival celebrations. Tulip forecasts begin in March. Just in case you wanted to know . . .

Stay midweek and you’re sure to save on lodging and have more of Holland to yourself, even during our most popular times of year. So, arrive on a Tuesday or extend your stay through a Thursday night, and you’ll fit right in with the descendants of thrifty Dutchmen!
