ALDINE ISD HOSTS SYSTEM OF GREAT SCHOOLS LEARNING LAB FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS

During the Learning Lab, attendees had the unique opportunity to visit several Aldine ISD campuses, each showcasing a unique and inspiring learning environ ment. The tour featured four schools — each exemplifying different aspects of the SGS Strategy. • Goodman Elementary School, led by Principal LaDon Ward, operates under the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) model, a district initiative that provides additional resources and support to schools needing improvement, resulting in accelerated student outcomes. • Worsham Elementary School, with Principal Jacqueline Beas, also follows the ACE model, focusing on comprehensive reform and account ability. “The ‘Scholars and Sneakers’ Gala represents more than just a night of entertainment; it is a commitment to investing in the future of Aldine ISD’s students,” said Bryce Kennard, one of the event’s chairs. “We are determined to make a difference and open more doors of opportunity for our scholars.” All proceeds from the gala will go di rectly toward funding scholarships that empower students to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams. offers a college-preparatory expe rience and was created through the “Create New” action. • The HEAL Program at Nimitz High School, led by Principal Charles Land, is a specialized medical pathways program developed in partnership with Memorial Hermann. It provides students with hands-on medical training, mentorship oppor tunities, and a unique pathway to a career in the healthcare industry. After the campus tours, participants re convened for a panel discussion featuring key AISD leaders, including Superin tendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney, Chief Transformation Officer Dr. Adrian Bustil los, Chief Academics Officer Dr. Faviola Cantú; Gaby Sierra, executive director of transformation, and Fernanda Flores, principal of La Promesa, a newcomer and dual language experience campus. The panel reflected on the district’s progress and shared insights on im plementing the SGS strategy across various campuses.

Recently, Aldine Independent School District (AISD) welcomed district lead ers across Texas as part of the System of Great Schools (SGS) Learning Lab. This two-day event brought together public school districts dedicated to transforming educational opportunities for students and fostering sustainable, high-quality school systems. The SGS initiative empowers district leaders with the tools, strategies, and support to understand school perfor mance and community needs better. By leveraging data-driven insights, dis tricts can develop schools that genuine ly meet the demands and aspirations of families. The strategy operates through four key pillars: 1. Goff ney warmly welcomed visitors, setting thrilled to announce its first-ever Gala, themed “Scholars and Sneakers,” to be held on April 26, 2025, at the G & L Event Center. The evening promises to blend sophistication with a touch of fun, all in the name of supporting scholar ships for students in Aldine ISD. This highly anticipated event is co chaired by three influential community leaders—Bryce Kennard, Susie Molina, and Ashley Turner—who bring their passion for education and commitment to student success to this unique cele bration. Guests are invited to don their finest at tire paired with stylish sneakers, symbol izing the dual spirit of academic achieve ment and youthful energy. The evening will feature dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions, and inspiring stories from scholarship recipients.
