AISD PARTNERS TO COMMEMORATE HOUSTON LOVES TEACHERS CAMPAIGN During the spring semester, Aldine ISD hosted a conference at Eisenhower

Ninth Grade Campus, to announce their partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation, 2024 Host Commit tee and Good Reason Houston for their Houston Loves Teachers campaign, in which a mural will be created at the Eisenhower campus. The mural will be the product of a mentorship program in relation to the Houston Loves Teachers campaign. The campaign is a collective impact cam paign, aimed at recruiting and retaining great teachers in the Houston area. “This will be an artistic collaboration between our students and local artists,” said Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney. “It will reflect shared values of our teachers and educators, who are Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) returned triumphantly to the stage this year as a loud crowd cheered with delight at each award. The annual cere mony spotlights Houston area students’ talents. “These are the types of campaigns that Aldine ISD looks to be a part of, the kind that can spotlight the community, while also showing our appreciation to the teachers that make up our districts,” said Dr. Goffney. “We are excited to have been able to partner with multiple organizations who feel the same about education.”
Aldine ISD art students will choose what ideas they feel encompass the theme of the campaign, and the artist will interpret those ideas and turn it into the final design. In addition to helping each other finalize the design, AISD stu dents from all grade levels, will assist in the painting of the mural. • Outstanding Actor — Ryan Randolph, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical • Outstanding Dancer — Faith Bumper, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical Forty-seven Houston area schools participated in the Tommy Tune Awards. As one of the seven best musical nomi nees, the troupe performed “Hot Stuff” and “Last Dance” from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. Outstanding Leads, Actor, and Dancer nominees Morgan Childs, Alyssa Dorsey, Ryan Randolph, Faith Bumper, and Giovanni González-Cisneros performed in fea tured numbers throughout the evening. Morgan and Alyssa also performed in the leading actor medleys and the other nominees in their category. Delores Sells and students from different partic ipating schools performed with Broad way actor and host for the evening Michael James Scott. Director Roshunda Jones and Technical Theater Director Jabari Collins lead the Carver Theater Department. To date, Carver has earned over 109 nomina
tions. This year is the seventh time Carver has received the Best Musical nomination. Jones-Koumba and Collins thanked the entire production team: Denzel Taylor, choreographer and Carver alum; Pa mela Dickson, musical director; Donte Wright, assistant musical director and Carver alum; Bryce Nelson, on drums and Carver orchestra; Elias Flores, sound director and alum; Carol Stone, vocal coach; Cordero Jennings, multi media projections and alum; Trey Lewis, graphics and Carver alum; and Kristin Wilson, photographer and Eisenhower Ninth School theatre director.
