Bully Hill Vineyards Hammondsport | New York

Bully Hill Vineyards now has over 40 wine offerings and produces roughly 200,000 cases annually. Distributed in 30 states, Bully Hill Vineyards is the second-largest wine producer in New York. The current winery offers many amenities, such as a restaurant, a museum, tours and tastings. LE GOAT BLUSH A blend of red and white wines, this wine ($9.99) is more on the dry side. There are notes of strawberry, cherry and melon on the nose and mid-palate. Serve it chilled, and enjoy it with light fare or Asian cuisine. GOAT WHITE Light and crisp on the palate, it ($9.99) has notes of apple and pear. It’s medium-sweet and best served chilled. Enjoy it with white meats, grilled seafood or salads.

SWEET WALTER RED This full-on sweet wine ($9.99) is deep red and rich in texture and cloying on the palate. Serve it chilled and relax on the patio. Add club soda for a delightful spritzer. Find Bully Hill Vineyards wines at select Giant Eagle, Acme Fresh Market, Heinen’s or Discount Drug Mart locations . WINE WISDOM In 1982, Bully Hill Vineyards came out with Space Shuttle Rosé. The name was fought over in a lawsuit by NASA, which lost its challenge.

You can find this storied win ery in the Finger Lakes of New York just east of Ithaca. Bully Hill Vineyards was originally the vineyard of Taylor Wine Co. The family had been involved in winemaking in the region since around the late 1800s and survived Prohibition by selling grape juice. In 1967, father and son Greyton and Walter Taylor established a small estate winery, Bully Hill Vineyards. They converted the vineyard from American grapes to American French grapes. It survived despite a controversy involving the owners of Taylor Wine Co.
