by the abundance of crab meat. The Caesar salad was a delightful depar ture from the ordinary. It was expertly prepared with anchovies and Parmesan croutons that stole the show. I was tempted to take croutons home — they were that amazing. The chef informed me that the croutons were made to order, and they melted in my mouth. For entrees, I chose the Chilean sea bass with Dijonaise and house seasoned salt, while my wife opted for the 20-ounce bone-in rib-eye brushed with Lanning’s steak sauce. Both were cooked to per fection. I was pleasantly stuffed but couldn’t resist trying the triple-layer chocolate mousse. It was rich and deca dent, the ideal size and taste. The menu also has appetizers like Blue Point oysters on the half shell and sauteed escargots, and surf or turf entrees like lobster tail and filet mignon. Don’t skip the expansive wine list that won Wine Spectator ’s 2022 Award of Excellence. Since its renovation, Lanning’s has expe rienced a transformation in clientele, adapting to meet the changing dining preferences of different ages and groups, including couples, families and friends.
