Must-try Oktoberfest Beers
One of the most renowned traditions when it comes to beer is Oktoberfest. While one would assume the festivities start during the month of its name sake, the thirst-quenching celebration that has been around in Munich since 1810 actually takes place for two weeks, beginning in mid-September. It usu ally runs through the first Sunday of October. The start of Oktoberfest season rolls out even sooner. By the time August comes around each year, store shelves around the globe begin to fill with Oktoberfest beers. Here are a few you can’t miss in Ohio.
FAT HEAD’S G’SUFFA Pronounced “zoo fa,” this Fat Head’s
HOPPIN’ FROG OKTOBERFEST If you are seeking out another local favorite, sip on this Akron staple ($14.99, four-pack cans). LEFT HAND OKTOBERFEST Colorado’s Left Hand Brewing Co. brings forth a more toasted malt taste on your palate with a splash of hop bitterness to bal ance it out. The result is a great beer ($12.99,
3 FLOYDS MUNSTERFEST While 3 Floyds Brewing is known for its hoppy beers, don’t sleep on Munsterfest ($12.99, six-pack bottles), which is the Indiana brewery’s spin on an Oktoberfest. The biscuity flavors from the malt blend exceptionally well with the sweetness to craft a unique take on the famed German style.
