day active search on and around Allen Mountain. It was a large effort, encompassing a total of 59 rangers covering a roughly combined 400 miles on foot throughout the area. “I’m truly thankful for the endless hours and the hundreds of miles and dedication to bring our boy, Leo DuFour, back home to Montreal, Quebec,”

Guindon said, fighting back tears. “This is home, my second home to me. I come here as a Canadian. There’s a lot of controversy going on in North America, but . . . I just can’t thank you enough that he’s home. It’s hard, these things happen, but nobody gave up on him and I thank you very much.”

CAMPERSHIP Mary Lamb, #6736WV D id you know that part of your 46er dues help send children that live inside the Blue Line to DEC Summer Camp for one week every year? We work with school counselors who help identify students that show an interest in the outdoors. While at camp, campers have an opportunity to try new skills, including archery, canoeing, fishing, birding, and hiking, developing a lifelong love and respect for the outdoors in the process. This is just another way the 46ers give back to the mountains and their communities. In 2024, we sent three campers to Camp Colby in Saranac Lake and two to Camp Pack Forest in Warrensburg. This is what two of the campers had to say about their experience: My experience at Camp Colby was one of a kind, all the counselors and staff were very understanding and

helpful to their full extent with any problem you had. Also, they worked very hard during the first couple of days to make sure you felt welcomed and included. To anyone thinking about going, I personally recommend that you do because I would spend my whole summer there if I could. —Alyza, Tupper Lake Camp Pack Forest was a wonderful experience, and I am thankful for the counselors who made the whole thing so great. I made a few friends that I’ve remained in contact with and consider to be some of my closest friends. —Sophia, Boquet Valley
