was ever found of "observer" A1C Kenneth R. Jensen was his wristwatch. He was not even scheduled to be on the flight, he was filling in for a sick crew member. As an "ob server" he had no official duties on the flight and was only there to fill a training requirement of observing a number of these missions. This one being his last. As bad as I felt for the four crewmen, I couldn’t resist picking up one small piece of wreckage to put in my pack as a souvenir. Not a good thing to do! As I was putting it in my backpack, out of nowhere came this mournful howl. I never heard any thing like it. Shaken, I put the piece of the plane back at once. I guess I didn’t really need that souvenir after all! This day made me think about one’s final resting place and also about giving back to these great Adirondack High Peaks that all of us 46ers and ADK hiker buds love. Thanks for the mountains. —Rich
