FAIR 2023

It’s that time of year again! Time for big animals, crazy contests, food on a stick, midway rides, butter sculptures and, of course, Iowa PBS’s State Fair coverage. For some Iowans, gathering to watch the network’s annual highlights program is as much of a tradition as the fair itself. Tune in for Fair 2023 Monday, August 14 through Saturday August 19 at 9 and 10 p.m. each evening. Watch all six episodes back-to-back on Sunday, August 20, beginning at 2 p.m.

OUR GREAT STATE FAIR The Iowa State Fair is the culmination of everything Iowa is known for: a social event, a livestock show, a competition stage, an entertainment venue, a political platform and a classroom. It’s a place to experience Iowa’s past and, at the same time, look towards its future. Dive into the stories that set it apart from any other fair, and learn how the event brings people together for eleven unforgettable days each year.

Our Great State Fair airs August 1 and 2 at 7 p.m.

DOC MARTIN As season 9 begins, Martin’s medical career hangs in the balance as the General Medical Council assess his ability and determines whether he is fit to continue practicing medicine. In addition, Louisa, his wife, has resigned from her job as headmistress at the local school to pursue a new career in child counseling.

Doc Martin season 9 premieres August 26 at 8 p.m.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN NORTHERN IRELAND This powerful five-part series gives voice to the people who lived through Northern Ireland’s violent past by sharing intimate, unheard testimonies from all sides of the conflict. The series combines unfiltered personal accounts with archival footage to tell the story of the people and communities that had to live with conflict daily—and are still dealing with its legacies today.

Parts 1–4 of Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland air August 28–29 at 8 and 9 p.m. each evening. The final episode airs August 30 at 9 p.m.
