ACRYLIC FACTS

Acrylics! The only thing between a great lamp and a great tan.

You’ve invested in brand new lamps. You’ve spent long hours getting your tanning equipment ready for the season. Customers are standing in line, anxious to get a great tan.

When was the last time you changed your acrylics?

Over time, acrylic material decomposes and blocks UV rays. You know...the same UV rays that create the TAN we’re all after. Why would you overlook the one thing that stands between great lamps and a great tan? The average lifespan of a quality acrylic is between 1500 and 3000 hours. This varies based on your unique salon conditions and maintenance program. Acrylic Types: There are many different types of acrylics. It is best to have your make, model, dimensions, and the year of your unit on hand when you consult a Parts Specialist for assistance. Use cleaners and disinfectants that are acrylic safe. Do not use home cleaning products! Polish acrylics regularly with a product such as Novus Plastic Polish. Refer to our Salon Supplies section for approved acrylic care products. Ensure that all internal cooling fans are working. Failed fans cause hot spots and can cause an acrylic to warp and crack. Make sure your room size is large enough for the tanning unit to allow proper air flow. Adequate ventilation is a must. Verify that your voltage meets the equipment manufacturer’s specifica tions. Never allow clients to use tanning products that are not designed for use with an indoor tanning unit. Refer to our Lotion Section for a wide variety of products that are safe for use. Our company is the largest acrylic supplier in the industry! We can supply over 1,700 acrylics for virtually every tanning unit on the market. How To Measure Your Acrylic : • Disconnect the tanning bed from the electrical supply. • Following the manufacturer’s instructions, completely remove the acrylic surface you are replacing from the tanning bed. • Measure around the width of the back side of the acrylic (the side that faces the lamps). • (See Diagram A) DO NOT ROUND THE MEASUREMENTS UP OR DOWN.
