Creating Innovative Children’s Books Through discussion, writing exercises, demonstrations and feedback, you’ll learn how to make your story a stand out. We’ll work on plot development, characters, setting, dialogue, story arc, page turners and conceptualize text and illustrations in a picture book format. Also included: how to submit a manuscript, self publishing, promotion and pitching.

Amalia Hoffman received a Masters degree in art and art educa- tion from New York University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with honors, from The Pratt Institute. American Folk Guitar: Beyond Beginners NEW! For those who took the Beginners Folk Guitar class in the fall or who have previous experience. In this small and supportive class led by an experienced teacher, you’ll learn chords, strumming patterns, how to relax while you’re playing, and beloved American folk music songs. Bring your guitar. Class size limited to 8. It includes people of all ages. The main objective is to share rhythm and get in tune with each other and themselves.” – Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. Discover the rhythm of your soul and experience the healing and uplifting feeling of drumming with others. Learn hand drumming on traditional African drums and a variety of percussion instruments. This will be an inspiring and welcoming environment for people to connect, express themselves and connect with their energy. All are welcome, including complete beginners. Bring a drum or instrument if you have one, or borrow an instrument from us. Josh Davis currently plays drums for New York based bands The Starlight Girls, Manner Effect, Jonus Preston, The Pocket Band and leads his own jazz trio. her own poems. The program, Ithaka, is dedicated to the journey of Ulysses, and symbolizes our journey through life, a journey made of adventures, discoveries, goals and lessons learned. Each musical piece represents an important aspect of life, the poems will be a complement to the music and Pegoraro’s explanations will give a cue for personal reflections. Join us for an evening concert in an intimate setting filled with Pegoraro’s deep passion and enthusiasm for music, poems... and life! Cristiana Pegoraro has been called “an artist of the highest caliber” by the New York Times. She has performed as a soloist and with orchestras in Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Musikverein in Vienna and other The Joys of Singing In each class you’ll learn techniques for singing with freedom, relaxation and ease. Students will be exposed to different styles of singing ranging from classical to Broadway to contemporary as well as how to learn new repertoire and gain confidence on stage. As a class we will discuss common issues related to singing and how to practice efficiently in order to perform with joy (or just be able to sing along to the radio without alerting the dogs next door!). There will be opportunities to sing solos in front of the class as well as in a large group, depending on your comfort level. To cap off the class, there will be an optional cabaret night to show off your new skills, polish songs you’ve been wanting to perform or to sit and enjoy. Mezzo soprano Kristy Fox, a native of Washington State, graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2011. While attending Manhattan School of Music she performed the role of Mercury in John Eccles’ The Judgment of Paris under conductor Kenneth Cooper.
