America Through Literature This class for advanced level English students involves lectures and discussions on United States literary, political, social and cultural history. Practice your conversation skills as we explore history through excerpts of American fiction, non-fiction, poetry and music. Study materials included in fee. Katherine Dehais received a BA from Columbia University and her Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages training at Westchester Community College. 10 Tuesdays: March 8 – May 31 (no class March 22, April 12, 19): 9:30 – 11:30 am Larchmont Temple Rm 3 / $300 / Code 210 Advanced Intermediate English Students will engage in a variety of communicative activities to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Students will use “Understanding and Using English Grammar” 4th Edition, Volume A, Betty S. Azar. The book is not required at the first class: purchase instructions will be given at the first class. Bring your coffee (or lunch) and practice speaking on topics ranging from current events to arts and leisure activities. For those who have no previous Spanish study or who have forgotten what they learned. Esther Tesan attended ESSAM International Business School in Zaragoza, Spain and received a BA from the University of Humberside, School of International Marketing and Languages in the UK. She moved to the US from Spain in 2006, and has taught Spanish in schools in Virginia Beach and White Plains. 11 Wednesdays: March 9 – May 25 (no class March 23): 9:15 – 11:15 am Learn everyday vocabulary, grammar, and how to ask and answer basic questions. For those who have no previous Spanish study or who have forgotten what they learned. Gilda Blaistin is a native of Argentina, where she earned her teaching degree.
