PHOTO BY MELANIE RUSSELL McKinney High School, McKinney, Texas This image really captured the emotion on the player’s face, and the sharp focus allows you to see every detail – even the worn edges of his gloves and remaining face paint on his nose. We like the depth of field, and the way this photo was cropped to fill the frame. The white balance is good – especially for being shot in a stadium in the evening. His arm creates a frame around his face, and we like the pop of color created by his neon glove. It’s a nice contrast to the blue that’s saturated throughout the photo.
